Dr. Cristina Hendrix, DNS, is Associate Professor and Chair of the Division of Clinical Health Systems and Analytics at Duke University School of Nursing. She also has an appointment as a nurse investigator at the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) at the Durham Veterans Affairs Health Sciences Center. Dr. Hendrix earned her Doctor of Nursing Science from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center with a focus towards clinical investigation. Dr. Hendrix’s area of expertise is in geriatrics and her program of research centers around the development of nurse-led interventions to assist family caregivers of chronically-ill older adults. Dr. Hendrix has led the development of the TransitionaL Care program at the Durham VA and the Duke Elder Family/Caregiver Training program at Duke to support patients and their caregivers during the hospital to home transition. Notable awards include the induction as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the TOTAL Award, the highest recognition given by the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines to their graduates for exemplary contributions to the field of study and to the community.
