Gerrard Jolly, MA, CDP is Director of Career Advancement and Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) Strategies at the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). He directs the planning, implementation and delivery of learning collaboratives, summits, and research designed to provide networking and leadership development, highlight promising practices, and embed JEDI opportunities throughout the primary care workforce to advance health equity. He establishes and oversees collaborations with training and technical assistance providers, colleges and universities to provide opportunities for core competency development and career advancement at all levels of healthcare delivery organizations.
From 2007-2016, Gerrard held increasingly responsible roles, eventually serving as National Director of the Community HealthCorps program, an AmeriCorps project NACHC operated over 20 years. In that role, Gerrard oversaw 35 grantees in 16 states that trained and developed 500+ participants annually through immersion in community health center work experiences addressing social drivers of health. In 2013, Gerrard was selected by the Independent Sector as an American Express NGen Fellow – a distinguished recognition and opportunity for changemakers, age 40 and under, to strengthen adaptive leadership skills and grow professional networks.
Before coming to NACHC, Gerrard used his experience as a national park ranger to develop community engagement, visitor experience, and volunteerism programs for the National Park Foundation and its African American Experience Fund. Gerrard currently serves on the Social Mission Alliance Advisory Board. He holds bachelor's & master's degrees in history from Alabama State University and the University of Akron (OH), respectively, with concentrations in the African American civil war & civil rights experiences. He is certified in Mental Health First Aid and has earned Certificates in Nonprofit Management and Diversity and Inclusion, from the University of Washington and Cornell University, respectively. He is credentialed as a Certified Diversity Professional through the Institute for Diversity Certification.
