Dr. Barooah has vast experience working as an internal medicine physician for over 20 years in various healthcare systems and precepting multiple medical students and residents. She has worked in primary care, a community health center setting, and an intern/resident training setting. This experience has given her a broad understanding of health care and the need to train medical students and residents who will stay in our underserved population and become part of the workforce here. It is important we not only train these young doctors to be successful once they enter the workforce but also to retain them to continue practicing with The Wright Center for Community Health as we serve an underserved population. As the Designated Institutional Officer, Dr. Barooah is directly involved in ensuring the Sponsoring Institution is following all standards set forth by the ACGME. Ensuring that we can continue our accreditations for our many important programs. Without The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education, we could not continue to produce doctors who are privileged to serve. In addition to being a board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. Barooah is also board-certified in addiction medicine, lifestyle medicine, and obesity medicine.
