Lauren Muñoz is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Fitzhugh Mullan Institute for Health Workforce Equity at George Washington University. She is currently working with a team of researchers as part of a HRSA Technical Assistance Center to support 44 grantees of the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act who are implementing strategies to improve mental health, reduce burnout, and address moral injury among health and public safety workers. Lauren holds a BSN, MSN, and PhD in Nursing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. As a nurse, she has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings and also as a rheumatology nurse practitioner. Her research centers around the career decision-making of nurses, with the goal of retaining and expanding the number of nurses in shortage areas, increasing diversity among the graduate-prepared nursing workforce, and helping nurses manage career and educational challenges.
