Ana Sofia Barber De Brito, MSN, CNM (she/hers) is a certified nurse-midwife at Care New England with Women and Infants Academic Midwifery at Brown University OBGYN department. Her role functions as a clinical midwife as well as a teacher associate with the deparment of OBGYN Residency program. Ana Sofia completed her undergraduate degree in Latin American, Latino and Caribbean Studies at Dartmouth College and her graduate degree from Yale University School of Nursing. She has been in practice since 2017 and her clinical and academic interests include racial health disparities, anti-racism in medicine/midwifery, LGBTQ+ healthcare, trauma-informed care, and perinatal mental health disorders. She is currently involved with COMPASS+, a research inititiave to implement collaborative care models in OBGYN clinics to help improve perinatal mood and anxiety disorders in perinatal people. Part of her major work is engaging with community and developing community based participatory research and a community advisory and action board. Outside of midwifery work, she enjoys traveling, seeing the world through her four-year old’s eyes, and cozy bookstores, trying new foods, and
dancing.
