Jean Ann Davison, DNP, FNP-BC is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Graduate Program at the University of North Carolina, School of Nursing and Public Health in Chapel Hill, NC. She has taught DNP and MSN courses at UNC since 2005 (http://nursing.unc.edu/people/jean-davison/) and the Enhanced Role RN Physical Assessment of Adults and STD Training at the NC Institute for Public Health along with AHEC Physical Assessment workshops. Dr. Davison completed her MSN/FNP education in 2000 at UNC-Chapel Hill and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Duke University in 2012. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she has practiced in federally qualified community health centers, providing access to care for all since 2000 and has been a National Health Service Corps Recipient and presently is the National Health Service Corps Ambassador to UNC, Chapel Hill. In 2019 Dr. Davison was recognized as a Distinguished 100 North Carolina Public Health Nurse for her leadership in enhancing the role of public health nurses to screen for breast and cervical cancer and practice in public health STD clinics to combat breast and cervical cancers and communicable STDs.
Dr. Davison’s primary areas of sustained impact are service, practice, and education. In 2021, she became the Medical Director and lead FNP at the UNC School of Nursing Mobile Health Clinic. September 2021, Dr. Davison was selected as the 2021 NLN Isabel Hampton Robb Award recipient for Outstanding Leadership in Clinical Practice. 2022 Dr. Davison was selected as an Anne Belcher Interprofessional Faculty Scholar. Dr. Davison’s interprofessional education and practice (IPEP) focus is on wholistic care to improve health equity and training IPEP students. Her commitment has led to grant-funded IPEP projects and prepared global service-learning healthcare teams.
