Cristle Ike is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Health and Societies: Race, Gender, and Health on the pre-medical track. She is a passionate advocate for health equity and social justice, dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities in healthcare programming and policy. As the co-director and project manager of the African Immigrant Health and Wellness Program (AIHWP), Cristle co-led a team of students in conducting a community health needs assessment (CHNA) of African immigrant communities in West and Southwest Philadelphia. Through this study, she collaborated with community organizations to design and create the Community Healthworkers for African Migrants in Pennsylvania (CHAMP), leveraging community expertise to create healthcare navigation programming. In her role as the Deeply Rooted Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Justice, Cristle supports outreach initiatives in Black and Brown Philadelphia neighborhoods, promoting health equity and wellness through collaborative greenspace creation and volunteer engagement strategies. Cristle’s commitment to serving vulnerable populations extends to her previous work as a Shelter Health Outreach Program Shift Lead, where she worked to empower individuals experiencing homelessness through health screenings, physicals, and health education. Additionally, Cristle served as a Project Associate for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Healthier Together Initiative, supporting trauma-informed care programs for children in West Philadelphia public schools and aiding in facilitation of support groups and workshops. Cristle’s multifaceted approach to addressing healthcare disparities reflects her dedication to creating positive change at both the grassroots and institutional levels.
